Nits (Brightness)

Nits measure how bright a display gets. It is the spec that decides whether you can see the screen on a sunny patio or a fluorescent-lit train, and it is routinely undersold next to resolution. Roughly, a few hundred nits is fine indoors, 400–500 handles most lit rooms, and 600-plus starts to fight direct sun. A bright panel at a lower refresh rate often beats a dim one at a higher refresh for real-world use, which is why we read brightness before pixel count.
