Frame Pacing

Frame pacing is the consistency of the interval between frames. Two games can average the same frame rate yet feel completely different: evenly paced frames read as smooth, while a stuttery cadence feels worse even at a higher average. It is why “30 fps locked and well-paced” can beat “40 fps but janky,” and why reviewers who measure frame-time consistency tell you more than an average-fps number does. VRR helps paper over pacing problems; it does not fully fix them.
